Bharat Ki Soch, a think tank committed to researching and revitalizing the insights of Indian wisdom and applying them to contemporary policy challenges and governance frameworks, is desirous of supporting research in the following thematic areas:

  1. Governance
  2. National Security
  3. Economy, Commerce and Finance
  4. Environment and Sustainability
  5. Agriculture and Food Security
  6. Health Nutrition and Wellbeing

To this end, Bharat ki Soch invites applications for the positions of:

  1. Senior Research Fellow
  2. Junior Research Fellow
  3. Intern
  4. Social Media & Creative Research Interns
  5. Campus Ambassador

Responsibilities and qualifications are outlined as follows:

Location: New Delhi, India
Responsibilities: Research, Publication and Outreach on any two of the above-mentioned areas.

The Fellow is expected to explore the above-mentioned thematic areas by consulting ancient Indian texts, and outlining how the insights from early times might be relevant to contemporary policy and practice.

Tasks

  1. Carrying out in depth research on Governance / National Security / Economy, Commerce and Finance / Environment and Sustainability / Agriculture and Food Security / Health Nutrition and Wellbeing of ancient times of India
  2. Identify texts that address the above themes
  3. Synthesise existing studies on these to produce literature review
  4. Select and introduce passages for sourcebooks
  5. Engage in conversation with experts on these areas, at events or for newsletters/blogs
  6. Convene masterclasses and workshops with experts on the areas selected
  7. Writing articles on the above themes
  8. Organize exhibitions, conferences, lectures for public outreach
  9. Overviews (15,000 words) of studies on the areas identified
  10. Anthologies with excerpts from texts organised thematically
  11. Translations of unpublished works/chapters from works
  12. Organise conferences, round tables, workshops, exhibitions

Commitment: Full-time, on all official working days

Qualifications and Skills

Essential

  1. PhD Degree in Ancient Indian History
  2. Knowledge of Ancient scriptures is a must
  3. Excellent written and spoken skills in English, Hindi
  4. Three plus years of relevant work experience

Desirable

  1. Competence in reading premodern sources in at least one South Asian language (Sanskrit, Prakrit, Farsi, Tamil…)
  2. Experience of university teaching/academic editing/exhibition curation/organising public lectures
  3. Ability to initiate and drive projects

Location: New Delhi, India

  1. Assist in identifying and reviewing primary texts relevant to the themes
  2. Support literature reviews and research synthesis
  3. Extract and summarise key passages from classical sourcebooks
  4. Assist in drafting articles, concept notes, briefs
  5. Assist in curating content for newsletters
  6. Provide research inputs for conferences, roundtables and public lectures
  7. Support in organising workshops, conferences, roundtables, exhibitions etc.

Commitment: Full-time, on all official working days

Qualifications and Skills

Essential

  1. MA in Ancient Indian History
  2. Knowledge of Ancient scriptures
  3. Demonstrated interest in ancient Indian knowledge systems
  4. Excellent written and spoken skills in English, Hindi

Desirable

  1. Competence in reading premodern sources in at least one South Asian language (Sanskrit, Prakrit, Farsi, Tamil…)
  2. Prior research, academic writing or editorial experience

The Role: Creative Outreach & Synthesis

You will be at the intersection of history and hashtags:

  • Trend-Spotting: Identify ancient concepts (Governance, Ethics, Sustainability) that resonate with today’s youth.
  • Content Alchemy: Transform complex texts into high-impact infographics, X threads, and short-form video scripts.
  • Digital Strategy: Help manage our social media operations and master the algorithms to spread IKS globally.
  • Creative Briefs: Draft punchy articles and concept notes that make “ancient” feel “urgent.”

Who You Are?

  • A Humanities Student/Grad: Background in History, Pol Science, Lit, Sociology, or Economics.
  • Digital Native: You live and breathe social media and understand what makes content shareable.
  • Culturally Rooted: You have a foundational interest in Indian Scriptures and a desire to see them applied to modern problems.
  • Bilingual: Fluent in English and at least one Indian language.

The Details

  • Location: New Delhi (In-office, 5 days/week).
  • Duration: 2 Months (with potential for extension).
  • Stipend: INR 10,000 / month.

  3. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in Law, Political Science, Economics, History, Sanskrit, International Relations, Defence and Strategic Studies, or Media Studies

Responsibilities

  1. Raise awareness about ancient Indian wisdom and Bharat Ki Soch within your institution
  2. Coordinate student engagements, discussions, and academic activities on campus
  3. Act as the institutional liaison between your college and Bharat Ki Soch
  4. Learn, intern, and contribute to ongoing research and publication activities
  5. Promote participation in Idea Lab and other think tank initiatives
