Bharat Ki Soch, a think tank committed to researching and revitalizing the insights of Indian wisdom and applying them to contemporary policy challenges and governance frameworks, is desirous of supporting research in the following thematic areas:

To this end, Bharat ki Soch invites applications for the positions of:

  1. Intern
  2. Social Media & Creative Research Interns
  3. Campus Ambassador

Responsibilities and qualifications are outlined as follows:

Location: New Delhi, India
Responsibilities: Research, Publication and Outreach on any of the above-mentioned areas.

The Intern is expected to explore the above-mentioned thematic areas by consulting ancient Indian texts, and outlining how the insights from early times might be relevant to contemporary policy and practice.

Tasks

  1. Assist in identifying and reviewing primary texts relevant to the themes
  2. Support literature reviews and research synthesis
  3. Extract and summarise key passages from classical sourcebooks
  4. Assist in drafting articles, concept notes, briefs
  5. Assist in curating content for newsletters
  6. Provide research inputs for conferences, roundtables and public lectures
  7. Support in organising workshops, conferences, roundtables, exhibitions etc.

Commitment: Full-time, on all official working days

Qualifications and Skills

Essential

  1. MA in Ancient Indian History
  2. Knowledge of Ancient scriptures
  3. Demonstrated interest in ancient Indian knowledge systems
  4. Excellent written and spoken skills in English, Hindi

Desirable

  1. Competence in reading premodern sources in at least one South Asian language (Sanskrit, Prakrit, Farsi, Tamil…)
  2. Prior research, academic writing or editorial experience

The Role: Creative Outreach & Synthesis

You will be at the intersection of history and hashtags:

  • Trend-Spotting: Identify ancient concepts (Governance, Ethics, Sustainability) that resonate with today’s youth.
  • Content Alchemy: Transform complex texts into high-impact infographics, X threads, and short-form video scripts.
  • Digital Strategy: Help manage our social media operations and master the algorithms to spread IKS globally.
  • Creative Briefs: Draft punchy articles and concept notes that make “ancient” feel “urgent.”

Who You Are?

  • A Humanities Student/Grad: Background in History, Pol Science, Lit, Sociology, or Economics.
  • Digital Native: You live and breathe social media and understand what makes content shareable.
  • Culturally Rooted: You have a foundational interest in Indian Scriptures and a desire to see them applied to modern problems.
  • Bilingual: Fluent in English and at least one Indian language.

  • Location: New Delhi (In-office, 5 days/week).
  • Duration: 2 Months (with potential for extension).
  • Stipend: INR 10,000 / month.

  3. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in Law, Political Science, Economics, History, Sanskrit, International Relations, Defence and Strategic Studies, or Media Studies

  2. Coordinate student engagements, discussions, and academic activities on campus
  3. Act as the institutional liaison between your college and Bharat Ki Soch
  4. Learn, intern, and contribute to ongoing research and publication activities
  5. Promote participation in Idea Lab and other think tank initiatives

Role & Responsibilities

The Senior Research Fellow will lead interdisciplinary research at the intersection of classical texts and contemporary policy.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Research Leadership: Lead research projects examining primary historical sources and classical texts in relation to contemporary policy challenges.

  • Project Management: Design and manage research projects, timelines, outputs, and collaborations.

  • Academic & Policy Output: Produce thematic overviews, policy briefs, critical literature reviews, sourcebook compilations, and high-impact research publications.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Convene expert roundtables, academic conferences, workshops, and public outreach programmes.

  • Institutional Engagement: Collaborate with policymakers, academics, researchers, and domain specialists.

Qualifications

Ph.D. is required through one of the following pathways:

1. Domain Pathway

Ph.D. in a discipline corresponding to the target research pillar, such as:

  • Public Policy / Governance

  • Strategic Studies

  • Economics

  • Environmental Science

  • Agricultural Studies

  • Public Health

Candidates should have demonstrated research experience involving historical or classical frameworks.

2. Classical / Historical Pathway

Ph.D. in:

  • Ancient History

  • Indology

  • Classical Languages such as Sanskrit, Prakrit, Tamil, etc.

Candidates should have a doctoral thesis or published research directly focused on the selected research pillar.

Experience & Competencies

  • Minimum 5+ years of post-qualification research or academic experience.

  • Substantial publication record in peer-reviewed journals and/or policy monographs.

  • Professional or native-level fluency in English and Hindi.

  • Strong interdisciplinary research and analytical skills.

  • Ability to lead research projects and engage with academic and policy stakeholders.

  • Desirable: Ability to read primary source material in classical South Asian languages.

2. Research Fellow (RF)

Role Focus: Independent research execution, sourcebook curation, policy analysis, and workshop facilitation.

Academic Qualifications & Experience:

Ph.D. Entry: Ph.D. in a relevant domain or Ancient History (with pillar-specific specialization, (e.g., Public Policy/Governance, Strategic Studies, Economics, Environmental Science, Agricultural Studies, Public Health) and a minimum of 2 years of post-qualification work experience.

Master’s Entry: Master’s degree in a relevant discipline or Ancient History with up to 5 years of dedicated research experience aligned with the pillar.

Competencies:

  • Working knowledge of classical texts relevant to the pillar.

  • Demonstrated writing portfolio (research reports, policy notes, or academic publications).

  • Professional fluency in English and Hindi.

0-3 years of relevant research or professional experience.

Foundational understanding of ancient Indian texts and institutional structures.

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi.
